One of the aspects of walking the actual Camino Santiago is being far from home, away from work and the business/busyness of the everyday, On my home based trek, I continue to be smack dab in the middle of real life, work, managing and adapting to the unpredictable landscape of shelter at home mandates, social distancing regulations, and being a health care worker.
My day started with a long, stressful ordeal with online, over the phone banking services. I am fortunate, my needs were simple, and not even money based. just access to a safe deposit box in a now closed branch. In the end, the problem was solved, and my local branch manager helped me immensely. However, even with my unflappable upbeat nature, and relentless optimism, I felt exhausted, stressed out and needed to find a way to take care of myself.
So, I walked a half marathon. After the first couple of hours, I felt the weight of my worries leave my body. August and I took the long way around Emerald Hills, snuck into Woodside, and toured through the fields of spring flowers, passed by my kid's elementary school, walked/ran into a dear friend, and by the time we reached home, my phone based walk tracker said 13.1.
