My background
I grew up playing! Backyard baseball, school soccer, riding horses, I was always drawn to physical activity. As a young adult, academics and physical fitness were both priorities. As I have matured, gotten an undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California, a Master's degree from San Diego State University, and raised a family , my attitudes towards health have also changed.
I see yoga as a way to well being. How each of us embraces the practice is what makes it so interesting. Some come to yoga in pursuit of the much desired "yoga body", others feel drawn to the philosophy, or may have seen a friend or colleague benefit from yoga practice and want to see what is possible for their own lives.
In the classes I lead, I learn so much from class members. A pose that feels wonderful on Tuesday, may not on Thursday. I encourage students to find the edge of their comfort zone in practice, and at the same time, respect the wisdom of their bodies, and adapt poses in safe ways to deepen their experience. All of us come to the mat with our own stories, physically, emotionally, spiritually, and in our precious time on the mat, we can learn, grow, and feed ourselves, our bodies and our lives.
