As I traverse the hills and dales of my neighborhood, I get to witness the story of this quirky hillside town. Emerald Hills started as a sunny getaway for San Franciscans, with many people building their own cabins, and a few of those original homes still exist. Later, after WW Two, United Airlines built homes for employees at San Francisco International airport. The 70's brought sewer lines to the hill, and, of course, disco! Ok, what really matters is that it was now possible to. build bigger homes, listen to the Bee Gees, and the neighborhood continues to grow.
Today's walk was rainy, drizzly, and a bit windy. August hardly complained about the hills and wet conditions. I took advantage of the weather, and wore every bit of rain gear known to mankind, rain paints, rain coat, funky hat, and my recently waterproofed hiking boots! Since it is April in California, I was quite, quite overdressed and had a sauna like personal ecosystem. I continue to rehydrate into the evening and learned a valuable lesson, I think.
